Job Summary

With limited supervision from the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment and Equity (VPSEE), the incumbent is responsible for ensuring data integrity as it relates to student and personnel information, Riverland policies and procedures, the institution's strategic decision-making, and the Minnesota State system office. This position coordinates communications, including correspondence, reports, and records between Student Affairs and other college departments, Riverland Community College administration, faculty, students, staff, and community members.

This position provides confidential office management and administrative services to the VPSEE in leadership and direction to support college-wide planning and daily operations, including student affairs, enrollment management, equity efforts, and policies and procedures. This position will troubleshoot situations that arise in the absence of the VPSEE and provide guidance, act on, or escalate concerns to the appropriate administrator or external agency when necessary. The Administrative Assistant will exercise independent discretion when responding to inquiries and will exercise high sensitivity and confidentiality in their work.

Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)

• Fluently communicate, read, understand, and respond to a variety of communications, such as customers' questions, product catalogs, requisitions, purchase orders, detailed instructions and procedures, inventory records and distribution lists .

• Demonstrated experience in project management, administrative support, office coordination and executing events.

• Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and creativity skills such as logical reasoning, objective interpretation and ability to conceptualize.

• Skills in customer service sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written correspondence.

• Expert skills in using word processing, Excel, and other software applications to track budget, prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, communications and records.

• Knowledge of sound business practices as applied to disbursements, purchasing and receipts techniques and internal control concepts.

• Knowledge and proficiency in various PC software applications such as MS Office, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, SharePoint and Workday.

Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)

• Associate Degree or higher in Administrative Assistant or related field.

• Pr e vious e x p e ri e n c e in hi g her e du ca tion working with collective bargaining agreements.

• Accomplished ability in disseminating, tracking, and managing time-sensitive materials to ensure that deadlines are met.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team to solve problems.

• Intermediate skills in using computer technology: Microsoft Office, internet, email and calendar systems.

• Bilingual/multilingual fluent in Spanish, Somali, Karen, Anuak, Nuer, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.

• Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations.
