Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support services to a supervisor and/or director and the staff members in the education department. This is a full-time (12 month) position with MSA.

Job duties include:
  • Provide assistance and direction in a variety of office tasks to ensure efficiency, communication, and productivity in the department.
  • Update and utilize student information systems, other databases, and/or documentation systems with current information following direction from supervisors/directors.
  • Responsible for student and staff attendance on the MSAD campus - receives calls in the morning and ensures sub-coverage; communication with transportation companies and Faribault Public Schools, communication between related services and interpreters as needed.
  • Responsible for daily attendance of all absences, informs substitute teacher or paraprofessional regarding changes, and transmits lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Responsible for serving as a notetaker in meetings.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the required level (as measured by SLPI evaluation).
  • Experience in office administration, including handling phone calls, emails, and communication with various stakeholders as well as strong communication skills to interact with students, families, interagency partners, and staff.
  • Knowledge of student information systems and databases.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain calendars, schedules, and office records.
  • Experience in creating/distributing professional-level communication via multiple platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Deaf/Blind individuals in an educational setting.
  • Experience in processing off-campus activity requests and coordinating logistics with multiple departments.
  • Experience preparing and distributing mass communication announcements (e.g., daily announcements, newsletters).
  • Background in organizing and participating in school events, such as orientations, graduations, and field trips .
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and to be able to sit, stand and walk throughout a workday.
