About the Role


This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Ocean Import Specialist to manage full-cycle ocean freight shipments into the U.S. You'll handle complex routing and documentation while serving as a key liaison between overseas agents, U.S. Customs, carriers, and clients. Supporting a high-volume desk with direct client interaction, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring service excellence and timely cargo delivery across a range of industries.


Key Responsibilities


  • Coordinate FCL and LCL ocean import shipments from pre-alert to POD
  • Manage key documentation flows including ISF filing, customs clearance coordination, and delivery orders
  • Communicate daily with global agents, carriers, brokers, and trucking providers
  • Monitor cargo status and resolve delays, holds, or exceptions with urgency
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and internal SOPs
  • Provide proactive client updates and maintain service KPIs

Candidate Requirements


  • Minimum 2 years' experience in ocean import forwarding, ideally within an NVOCC or global forwarder
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. import compliance and documentation workflows
  • Proficiency with industry platforms (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, or similar TMS)
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments under tight timelines without sacrificing accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach
  • Must be based in the Atlanta metro area or open to a hybrid in-office schedule
