The emergency department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with board certified physicians and advanced level practitioners who are well-trained to treat emergency needs. MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is certified as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Join the MercyOne Family. We are looking to hire a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).


As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at MercyOne, you will be Under general supervision of OTR, the COTA screens, assesses, implements and provides occupational therapy treatment for patients. The COTA assists the OTR in the evaluation process. Possesses the skills necessary to provide direct patient care specific to each age group in accordance with departmental policy. The age of the patients served range in age from infants to geriatrics.

Schedule:

  • Rotating shifts

General Requirements:

  • Must be able to function as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in all commonly practiced aspects of patient care and treatment appropriate for the assigned age group.
  • Must have ability to give clear instructions to individuals and groups ranging from infant to geriatric.
  • Must have ability to plan day-to-day activities and work independently.
  • Must be able to put patients at ease and make them comfortable.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other hospital employees and guests. Found on

Education:

  • Certification through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NCBOT)
  • Associate degree as Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) by the State of Iowa to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Found on Job Description
