Barton Associates is seeking an experienced Occupational Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a 39-day locum tenens position at a clinic in California. Starting on 04/08/2025, this assignment offers a flexible schedule of three 6-hour shifts per week, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with a one-hour closure from 1 PM to 2 PM daily. Job Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Provide occupational medicine services to school district employees
  • Conduct pre-employment physicals and fitness-for-duty evaluations
  • Perform work-related injury evaluations and treatment
  • Manage workers' compensation cases
  • Deliver family medicine services as needed
  • Conduct health screenings and preventive care examinations
  • Diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries
  • Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using eClinicalWorks EHR
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Adhere to clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols
  • Stay current with best practices in occupational and family medicine
  • Provide patient education on workplace health and safety

Additional Information:


  • California nurse practitioner license required
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred
  • Experience in occupational medicine and family practice essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
  • Comfortable with a diverse patient population of school district employees
  • Flexibility to work three 6-hour shifts per week
