A Nassau County based Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Manager with a strong background in perioperative nursing. This position oversees the daily clinical operations of the ASC, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care:
- Provide direct oversight and leadership for nursing care across the perioperative continuum: pre-op, intra-op, and post-anesthesia care (PACU).
- Ensure adherence to best practices and protocols for patient safety, infection prevention, and surgical site care.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and staff to coordinate patient flow and manage daily surgical schedules.
- Assist in developing and refining policies and procedures that align with clinical standards and accreditation requirements.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor nursing and clinical support staff in perioperative roles.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and balanced workloads across surgical services.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, coach team members, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Promote continuing education, cross-training, and professional growth opportunities for all staff.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation bodies (AAAHC, Joint Commission, etc.).
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and readiness for audits, inspections, and internal quality reviews.
- Lead infection control, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives within the perioperative environment.
- Oversee incident reporting and corrective action planning for adverse events or complications.
Operational Oversight:
- Collaborate with medical leadership and administrators to support strategic goals and enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee inventory control and ensure availability of necessary instruments and equipment for all procedures.
- Support EMR use and documentation compliance for surgical patients.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of New York (Required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree or leadership certification preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of perioperative nursing experience in a surgical setting, including experience in pre-op, intra-op, and PACU
- At least 2 years of leadership or nurse management experience, preferably in an ambulatory or outpatient surgical facility
- Comprehensive knowledge of operating room protocols, surgical procedures, and patient safety standards
- Familiarity with CMS, OSHA, and accreditation standards (AAAHC, Joint Commission, etc.)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; CNOR or CAPA certification a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
