Description: We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as the Nursing Director for Critical Care and Emergency Services at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, our flagship location in Boise, Idaho. This role provides strategic and operational oversight for some of the most essential and high-acuity areas of our Level II Trauma Center-including our inpatient ICUs, CVICU, Neuro Surgical Trauma ICU, telemetry/step-down units, and both freestanding and hospital-based emergency departments.

You will lead a team of experienced clinical leaders and work alongside an engaged physician enterprise to shape trauma and critical care services that set the standard for the Treasure Valley. The scope of this position spans both critical care and emergency services operations-placing you at the center of our health system's commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and strategic growth.

Areas of Responsibility

As a member of the nursing leadership team, the Nursing Director provides leadership and oversight to unit leaders and their staff for assigned areas of responsibility. Identifies customer groups, assesses their needs, and coordinates the operations to successfully achieve organizational objectives. Responsible for the development, communication, and successful execution of established financial and non-financial objectives as articulated through the organizational structure and strategic plans.

Critical Care

Responsible for all aspects of critical care services operations including, but not limited to, ICU, CICU, CVICU, Neuro Surgical Trauma ICU, Telemetry, Rapid Response Team, and Critical Care Float Pool and Step-Down areas.

Responsible for budgeting, purchasing, staffing, recruitment and retention of staff, financial performance and reports and regulatory compliance.

Emergency Services

Responsible for all aspects of emergency services operations including, but not limited to, emergency room operations, budgeting, purchasing, staffing, recruitment and retention of staff, physician contracting, billing and collection processes, financial performance and reports and regulatory compliance

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Colleague must have an RN license, as defined by their primary work state (Idaho or Oregon), issued prior to hire date.
  • Must possess knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations and requirements as normally acquired through completion of a Master's degree in Nursing, with seven (7) or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or other healthcare related field or be currently enrolled in and complete a Master's program within four years of hire.
  • 5 years of experience with demonstrated nursing leadership skills such as team building, performance improvement, communications, systems thinking, negotiation, multitasking, leading interdisciplinary teams, and financial and program management required.
  • At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS)
  • Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk
