Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.
- Recognizes deviations from normal in physical assessments and collaborates to formulate treatment plans.
- Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessments, diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and admission/discharge care following written protocols.
- Initiates actions to facilitate therapeutic plans aligned with patients' ongoing healthcare needs.
- Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served, demonstrating caring practices in a compassionate environment.
- Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to improve patient outcomes.
- Documents accurately and promptly, including inpatient H&P and discharge summaries (reviewed and signed by supervising medical staff within 24 hours).
- Writes or dictates reports and progress notes in the medical record.
- Triages patients efficiently.
- Participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
- Collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Maintains regular attendance and compliance with all policies and standards.

- Acts as a role model and resource for staff.
- Participates in policy review and revision.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Builds relationships with other health professionals in the community.
- Communicates effectively with diverse populations, including physicians, staff, patients, and families.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: MN, MSN, DNP, PhD, or DNS in nursing required.
- Licensure/Certification: ARNP license in the state; national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board required after July 1, 2006; current BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of primary care experience.
