Description Job Summary - Assist Unit Director with management and coordination of patient care and staff development
- Provides direct care to patients on assigned unit using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Functions and performs all technical aspects of nursing care within the framework of established policies and procedures of PRMC
- Responsible for managing care of assigned patients and guiding and directing the activities of ancillary staff
- May function as a charge nurse
- Functions on the nursing unit as assistant to the physician
QualificationsEducation - ADN degree or higher in nursing required. BSN, preferred.
Licenses/Certification - Current State license or Compact State License (if lives outside of TX) required.
- BLS - required upon hire and continuously thereafter.
- ACLS - required within 3 months of hire and continuously thereafter. PALS - required within 3 months of hire and continuously thereafter. Handle with Care - required within 6 months of hire and annually thereafter.
- TNCC - required within 12 months of hire and annually thereafter.
- Certified Professional of Patient Safety - preferred. CEN Certification - preferred.
Experience
- 2-4 years emergency nursing experience preferred
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to conduct self in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to guide and direct activities and staff to provide optimal patient care
- Utilizes the nursing process as a framework for patient care while recognizing the dignity and worth of each patient
- Collaborates with other health care members to maintain a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
