Description

Job Purpose:

Ensure the health and wellness of all students by providing exceptional customer service, care, and comprehensive health services that invoke a positive experience for students and parents.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assess, triage, and appropriately treat students who may be ill, injured or psychologically compromised
  • Document and communicate the diagnosis and/or treatment plan with the nursing team, parents, advisors and other community members as needed
  • Consult with physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists and/or other health care providers as necessary
  • Manage medications, as prescribed and ordered by physicians, in a safe and controlled environment
  • Dispense medications to students according to Connecticut Nurses Practice Act
  • Maintain student health records as necessary
  • Inform, educate, and counsel students and community on health and wellness
  • Must adhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Continually meet or exceed Pomfret School's Standards of Behavior, Character, and Engagement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Other community members include but are not limited to faculty, advisors, coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, etc.

Requirements

  • Connecticut RN/LPN licensure preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Familiarity with Magnus Health software is a plus
  • Continually seek professional development, training and education
  • Possess a current physical exam, TB test and are free of communicable diseases, as required by CT state law

Work Conditions:
  • On site position
  • Most work is conducted indoors but may require walking to different locations on campus in various weather conditions
  • Regularly exposed to illnesses, diseases and infections
  • Standing, sitting, walking and bending required
