JOB SUMMARY

The Personal Trainer is an integral member of the NOW center wellness team. Directly oversees both one on one and group member training programs, with emphasis on ensuring members safety with minimal supervision.

Ensure excellent customer service to all guest of the NOW center. Responsible for developing client-focused fitness programs to meet the needs of a diverse membership population. Provide expert guidance to allow for safe and desired use of all wellness equipment.

Strives for superior performance of the NOW center by consistently providing excellent customer service to clients and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the wellness experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of community centered care.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assess, plan and execute personalized fitness goals for a variety of fitness level clients.
  2. Conduct fitness assessment on all new clients.
  3. Develop and deliver personal training group workshops/ camps.
  4. Collect and interpret data on clients' fitness progress and goals.
  5. Provide safe and effective spotting techniques to clients.
  6. Demonstrate and model best practice guidance though continued industry education.
  7. Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures.
  8. Regularly inspect fitness equipment and report any safety or maintenance needs.
  9. Keep personal training areas organized, clean and inviting.
  10. Provide guidance to customer service front desk staff as needed.
  11. Participate in monthly staff meetings and staffing schedules.
  12. Reporting of sales trends, client wellness data and community areas of interest to NOW center leadership team.
  13. Resolve and report clients' complaints.
  14. Drive membership/ personal training sales with knowledge of center and offerings.
  15. Provide tour of facility and services to new/ potential members/ community groups.
  16. Communicate and coordinate with internal departments.
  17. Follow up on customer interactions.
  18. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
  1. High school diploma. Associates or Bachelor's degree within relevant field preferred.
  2. Certification in personal training by a nationally recognized organization.
  3. Strong willingness to seek and obtain additional training or certifications to enhance skill set and instruction.
  4. Certification in CPR/AED/ First Aid with the AHA only. Must be obtained within 30 days of hiring.
EXPERIENCE
  1. Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  2. Extensive knowledge of exercise physiology and kinesiology, safe training practices, exercise program implementation, and the proper use of cardiovascular, resistance, free weight and related fitness equipment.
  3. Preferred experience in supervising and instructing individuals in a fitness environment.
  4. Knowledge of relevant computer applications and data tracking software.
  5. Experience in stress tolerance and problem solving.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES/MOTOR SKILLS
  1. Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
  2. Ability to take part in clients' fitness program as needed to lead by example.
  3. Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).
  4. Able to provide walking tours of Wellness Center daily.
  5. Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  6. Ability to be flexible in work environments- such as front desk and wellness floor.
  7. Willingness to work early mornings, nights and rotating weekends.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL ABILITIES
  1. Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipmentas used by Memorial Healthcare.
  2. Industry standard data tracking systems and software programs.
  3. Use of NOW center membership program.
  4. Use of NOW center website and social media accounts.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES
  1. Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
  2. Ability to read and interpret a variety of client data programs.
  3. Ensure positive customer service environment with all clients, members and staff.
ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
  1. Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including but not limited to paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals.
  2. Able to hear for work-related purposes.
  3. Able to be in a loud, crowded environment for extended period of time.
