Job Title: Trust Officer
Position Summary:
The Trust Officer is responsible for the comprehensive administration of fiduciary accounts, including personal trusts, estates, investment management accounts, and agency arrangements. This position requires a strong working knowledge of trust law, estate planning, and regulatory compliance. The Trust Officer serves as a primary relationship manager, ensuring the delivery of exceptional client service while mitigating fiduciary risk and adhering to governing instruments and applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer a portfolio of complex fiduciary accounts in accordance with the terms of governing documents, applicable laws, and internal policies
- Serve as a trusted advisor and relationship manager to clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, and other external stakeholders
- Conduct periodic account reviews and ensure fiduciary duties are fulfilled in compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements
- Interpret and implement trust documents, wills, powers of attorney, and other legal instruments
- Collaborate with internal partners across wealth management, investments, tax, and legal teams to provide a holistic client experience
- Participate in business development initiatives, including client onboarding, cross-selling of services, and referral generation
- Monitor and address potential risk exposures and maintain current knowledge of trust law and regulatory updates
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of trust administration or fiduciary experience
- Strong understanding of estate planning, trust law, and fiduciary principles
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to explain complex financial and legal matters to clients
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-net-worth client relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
- CTFA (Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor), JD, CPA, or CFP designation preferred
- Experience using trust accounting systems (e.g., SEI, FIS, or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with high-net-worth client service expectations in a regulated environment
