North Sedgemoor Primary Care Network Manager

The role of a PCN Manager is diverse and interesting, working in Primary Care with the member practices to develop sustainable primary care, making this a challenging and rewarding role.

The 5 PCN practices are Axbridge and Wedmore Medical Practice, Brent Area Medical Centre, Burnham Medical Centre, Cheddar Medical Centre, and Highbridge Medical Centre.

We have a PCN Hub, based at the Burnham Health Campus, Brent Road, Burnham-on-Sea.

We are an innovative, forward-thinking PCN who believe that by working together, we can make a difference to both our staff and patients.

Our focus is on delivering services as outlined in the PCN Enhanced Service specification, as well as expanding proactive care in our community.

The PCN Team includes Complex Care GPs, Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, Occupational Health Therapists, Health Coaches, Care Coordinators, a Services Development Lead, and a Digital Lead.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to provide management support to the Clinical Director and PCN Board to achieve local strategic objectives. The manager should be strategic, innovative, open to change, and possess operational knowledge in Organisational Management, Human Resources, Finance, and Budgeting.

The post holder will support the delivery of NHS Long Term Plan and Network Contract Enhanced Service objectives, focusing on:

1. Supporting the sustainability and resilience of GP Practices.

2. Coordinating the implementation of the North Sedgemoor PCN plan.

3. Maintaining workforce sustainability amidst growing demand.

4. Managing change across the network.

5. Fulfilling the requirements of the Network Contract DES.

  • Providing operational support to the Clinical Director, PCN Executives, and Board.
  • Strategic planning, performance monitoring, and communication.
  • Managing finances, budgets, and contracts.
  • Supporting HR functions including recruitment, retention, appraisals, and staff development.
  • Overseeing data management, IT systems, and information governance.
  • Developing promotional materials and managing PR activities.
  • Supporting the Clinical Director with strategic and clinical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and network development.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Senior management experience, ideally within healthcare or NHS settings.
  • Knowledge of primary care contracting, NHS structures, and organizational relationships.
