Job DescriptionThe New Products Engineering Technician will oversee the new product setup and estimation process for Bonnell Aluminum. This employee will be responsible for organizing information for customer quotes, creating new manufactured item plans, handling engineering changes, troubleshooting and preventing routing challenges as they arise, and assisting in the rollout of a new ERP and MES system for Bonnell Aluminum.
What You'll Be Responsible For: - Organize incoming quotes by gathering the necessary costs from various plant value streams, checking quotes and plans for accuracy, creating a cost structure, and passing this information to the sales staff.
- Create accurate drawings of extrusion profiles and fabrication prints in SolidWorks according to customer specifications.
- Create routing for new items with accurate and efficient manufacturing plans. Inform various associates that tooling needs to be ordered and prepared.
- Complete engineering change notices as needed, following ISO procedure. Inform various stakeholders of changes that may affect them.
- Troubleshoot and prevent routing issues; this may involve implementing and completing a corrective action according to ISO procedures.
Skills You'll Need: - Extreme attention to detail and organization is required.
- Work effectively with the internal team and possess good verbal and written skills.
- Work effectively with customers to resolve concerns respectfully and professionally.
- Quick learner of new skills (company business systems, extrusion-specific terms, and rules, ISO, IATF standards, information flow, processes, people, etc.).
- Read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings & specifications (GD&T a plus).
- Comfortable using SolidWorks and 2D software, such as AutoCAD, Draftsight.
- Perform intermediate math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages, ratios, etc.).
- Work promptly to ensure work and completion dates are met, and compile reports on work progress.
- Think critically about what the root cause of a problem is and how to fix it.
- Functional with MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access. Programming in MS Access (VBA) is a plus.
What You'll Need to Have: - At least five (5) years of manufacturing experience.
- College degree preferred.
- SolidWorks certificate preferred.
