JOB SUMMARY

Research, develop, design and create new products for J&D and make improvements to existing products. Utilize market research and field experience in developing products, technical product specifications and packaging.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Design and develop new and innovative products utilizing industry best practices.
  2. Suggest new products or improvements to existing products based on research and feedback from market, sales, marketing and ownership.
  3. Design packaging internally or externally using approved vendors.
  4. Assist with the research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility and cost requirements of designs or applications.
  5. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  6. Research, design and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, systems and process to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  7. Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
  8. Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
  9. Create prototype drawings and follow them through the prototype runs, design rework, final runs, final BOMs, Routes and drawings.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to develop all product labeling information (brand recognition, product specs, and quality).
  11. Contribute in the creation of technical documentation, instructions and training materials.
  12. Develop test plans and conduct product testing and validation.
  13. Setup BOMs and routes in ERP system.
  14. Completion of New Product Request Forms, Pricing Request Forms and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) accurately and within specified time periods.
  15. Assist in researching market feasibility with the Marketing and Sales Department.
  16. Research Competitor's products including benefits and features.
  17. Confer with Engineers and other personnel to create and implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information.
  18. Assist to provide customer support for controls, electrical, and ventilation issues.
  19. Assist to maintain test chamber documentation, testing data and certification.
  20. Provide feedback to other engineers on customer problems and needs.
  21. Perform any other duties as assigned.
  22. Responsible for generating team spirit and creating and maintaining a personal attitude and work environment that fosters the highest level of employee cooperation, morale and satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

A Bachelor's Degree and 5-10 years related experience and/or training. Minimum of two years of experience with Solidworks is required. Experience creating and working with Bills of Materials and Routes is required. Electrical and ventilation experience preferred.
