Must Be a U.S. Citizen Responsibilities: The candidate will test existing and new Internet Protocol (IP)/Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network equipment for the DoD Information Network (DoDIN). The candidate will develop test cases, test reports and implementation plans for evaluating engineering architectures, new technologies, and approaches to unique engineering problems. Candidate will also function as a Tier III network engineer assisting Tier II engineers and vendors to provide solutions to resolve real world network issues. Network Testing:
• Develop test cases, test reports and implementation plans based on protocol and equipment testing.
• Perform interoperability testing between different vendors equipment.
• Determine and provide recommendations with supporting documentation for new equipment to be deployed /not deployed in the operational network.
• Brief the group leads on project status.
Tier III Support:
• Work with Tier II engineers to identify, track, and develop solutions to complex network problems.
• Mock-up equipment problems in the Test Lab to reproduce the problem and work toward a solution.y Required:
• Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)
• IP network lab testing
• IP network troubleshooting
Desired:
• Large scale IP networking environments, preferably within the DoD
• Cisco router/switch configuration and troubleshooting
• Juniper router/switch configuration and troubleshooting
• Routing with Intermediate System - Intermediate System (IS-IS) and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
• MPLS Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
• MPLS Traffic Engineering (MPLS-TE)
• Network Management
• Ability to work along with no or little assistance to complete equipment testing.
• Ability to work in a group to achieve the common goal to resolve complex network issues.
• Ability to work directly with the prime contractor project team Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline, e.g., IT Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with emphasis on Networking and Telecommunications or related technical area required
