The Advanced Hardware Engineering team is looking for a network test automation engineer to join the Sensor Emulation and Test Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in networking concepts, automation tools, and scripting languages to automate test cases written against Ethernet requirements. This role collaborates across teams - working with Systems, Integration, Software, and Sensor engineers to deliver scalable network validation solutions that ensure the reliability and performance of our autonomous vehicle sensor networks.
In This Role, You Will: - Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks for system integration, performance validation, and test execution
- Engineer specialized Python tools for network packet capture (PCAP) analysis, enabling deep inspection and automated evaluation of network traffic
- Architect and implement comprehensive test verification strategies across sensor network interfaces
- Create detailed technical documentation covering automation frameworks, test methodologies, and system configurations to enable knowledge transfer and scale testing capabilities
- Implement automation solutions that align with security protocols and industry compliance standards while maintaining testing efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to expand test coverage, enhance validation infrastructure, and drive testing excellence
Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 4+ years of relevant industry experience
- Comprehensive understanding of networking protocols and architecture, including deep knowledge of OSI model layers, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, and SNMP protocols
- Hands-on experience with network hardware configuration and automation across routers, switches, and firewalls
- Advanced Python programming and Bash scripting skills with demonstrated experience developing automated testing frameworks
- Proficiency with network analysis and diagnostic tools, including Wireshark, iPerf, traceroute, and tcpdump
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Qualifications - Experience with Time Synchronization Protocols (1588v2, 802.1as) and Automotive Ethernet
- Strong background in DevOps methodologies, including implementation of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows
- Expertise with Python testing frameworks (pytest, unittest) and test automation best practices
- Proficiency with version control systems, build automation tools, and software development lifecycle management
- Track record of successful hardware-software integration testing, including test plan development and execution
- Advanced Linux networking expertise, including network stack configuration, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
Compensation There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $251,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
