EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Associates Degree or equivalent from an accredited two year college or technical school and one-year related experience; OR three years related experience
Two years experience with Network Platforms and support
General understanding of information systems and hands-on experience with Aruba or Cisco network environments
Experience with Operating Systems used in LAN/WAN environments
CERTIFICATION :
HPE Aruba Networking Certified Professional; OR Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Provide network support for North East Independent School District (NEISD) clients in a professional and courteous manner.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities:
1. Configures and installs campus network hardware including layer 2 & 3 switching along with wireless APs.
2. Troubleshoots network connectivity issues including wire and fiber testing.
3. Configures, installs, and troubleshoots HUB network infrastructure.
4. Provides feedback and knowledge from the field to the Network Engineer.
5. Performs other duties as may be assigned by Network Engineer in managing the District's network services, including wide area and local area network operations.
6. Identifies areas of efficiency deserving attention in the technical support environment and consults with the Network Engineer.
7. Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots network hardware and software to achieve peak efficiency within the overall network connectivity.
8. Diagnoses network failures and repair or replace failing components.
9. Assists Network Engineers with the planning and design of new initiatives for the purpose of support of the District's networks.
10. Assists in the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of network systems to include the LAN/WAN.
11. Assists with the management of projects from the initial preparation and planning of the project to the procurement and installation of equipment and services.
12. Identifies and repairs malfunctioning network hardware and/or software.
13. Acts as technical project lead for smaller network or infrastructure projects.
14. Implements new network operating systems and application software, patches, and updates.
15. Provides technical assistance and training to Network Technician I staff and field technicians.
16. Completes helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner.
17. Responsible for regular inventory checks/counts of the Controlled Resources Management System (CRMS).
18. Maintains confidentiality of information.
19. Reports to work on time every day.
20. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IP Telephony Systems, VPN, firewall, content filter, servers, and storage
• Ability to learn and adapt to new software applications and perform a variety of internet related functions
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
• Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally required to work in a confined space. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
