Company Overview By Light is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to join our team providing transport engineering support for our Government customer's world-wide DOD and non-DOD interconnected communication infrastructures. The candidate is expected to participate in regular meetings with internal program staff, teammates, and the government client on a frequent basis. Effective leadership and communication skills are essential for working among a blended prime/subcontractor program team and developing and maintaining strong client relationships. Position Overview Provide engineering support to develop and/or update Systems Planning & Design (SP&D) documentation of global and regional portions of the DoDIN. SP&D documentation is site-based and includes all the technical details necessary to implement a design solution at a given site. Analyze existing and planned DoDIN Transport, IP, Timing & Synchronization, and Power architectures, and recommend appropriate actions or changes for the best alternatives to engineering support.
Provide engineering support and the appropriate procedures to support development of SP&D documentation in automated tools.
Provide training as required to the personnel on the development of SP&D documentation.
Utilize the tools to develop Engineering Work Orders (EWO) to update SP&D documentation plans.
Provide technical expertise to derive early Circuit Planning and Design (CP&D) engineering solutions and any associated documentation. Verify the site locations and equipment and determine the current and future needs in support of an early CP&D solution.
Provide all elements of end-to-end early CP&D support to satisfy DISN stakeholder requirements
Verify early CP&D engineering solutions against existing DISN/network architecture and provide technical recommendation
Provide CP&D provisioning documentation for Government review/
Attend engineering Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), support Government project leads at internal/external project management meetings, develop briefing slides for Senior Leadership/project leads, develop white papers and support the development of transport related engineering studies. Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Network Systems Engineer includes Authoring all elements of network and site-specific designs, including port assignments Developing technical solutions to resolve network transition issues to include all requirements from, but not limited to, technology refresh, sustainment, site/building relocation, and etc.
Drafting Initial Major Bill of Materials (MBOM) based on network configurations and changes. Managing SP&D meeting agendas and meeting minutes
Participating or Conducting SP&D documentation review and update report to address the tracking and reporting status of all architecture design issues/concerns Supporting SP&D planning and schedule of update and review Required Experience/Qualifications 5+ years of network systems engineering experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
DoD 8570-01-M IAT Level I or higher to include one of the following: A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, or CISSP.
Experience analyzing local and wide area network systems
Ability to type, communicate via telephone and sit for extended periods of time
Working knowledge Microsoft Office Tools; specifically, PowerPoint, Word & Excel
Excellent communication, effective leadership, and interpersonal skills Preferred Experience/Qualifications Experience with authoring and updating the sampling of government requested deliverables associated with this tasking by providing: Knowledge and understanding of utilizing DISA Network Change Management tools, Configuration Management tools, Network design tools, and other available means to update SP&D documentation to reflect the current/future DISN architecture for implementation. Special Requirements/Security Clearance Must posess existing Secret Clearance
