Position Title: Tier 3 Engineer

Salary Range: $125,000 annually
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Tier 3 Engineer to provide advanced system and network optimization, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance support for the EVS Program. The successful candidate will resolve escalated network and security issues, perform network assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and develop solutions. This role involves creating and maintaining comprehensive network documentation, including Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to execute network upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve escalated network and security support issues (Tier 3 level) with thorough troubleshooting and technical expertise.
- Conduct detailed network assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend actionable solutions.
- Lead the development and maintenance of network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Create and manage Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs) for network projects.
- Collaborate with teams to plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and deployments effectively.
- Monitor network equipment for capacity planning, backup, and recovery operations.
- Support testing and validation for setup, installation, and transition to operations of service infrastructure devices, Network Management Systems (NMS), and tools.
- Administer patching, configuration, and sustainment activities for JITC lab components hosted at DISA Fort Meade.
- Review ACAS scanning and findings reports, providing engineering support to mitigate vulnerabilities in coordination with the ISSM/ISSO.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, network and security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements.
- 10+ years of experience engineering and troubleshooting networks.
- Expertise in routing and switching protocols and technologies such as:
- MPLS, VPNs
- Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS
- Switching protocols: Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), VLANs, LLDP
- VoIP and multicast protocols
- Emerging network technologies
- Strong understanding of IP network/subnet addressing.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation, analyses, and reports.
- Ability to develop and present technical information to senior management and stakeholders.
- Security+ Certification or other DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification is required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Juniper routing, switching, and security appliances (MX, EX, SRX).
- Experience with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) implementation and design concepts.
- Familiarity with Ribbon Session Border Controllers (SBC).
- Experience with SolarWinds configuration and maintenance.
- Experience with Splunk for monitoring and analysis.
- Familiarity with change, configuration, and performance management NetOps concepts.
- IAT Level III Certification (e.g., CISSP or equivalent) is a plus.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to complete equipment testing and troubleshooting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team to resolve complex network issues.
- Ability to work directly with prime contractor project teams and other stakeholders.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for collaborating on test plans and reports with government agencies and equipment vendors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Visio for technical documentation and diagramming.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 12-15 years of relevant experience, OR
- Master's degree with 10-13 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant years of work experience may be substituted for formal education.
