Description

The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a talented Network Solutions Architect (Campus Area Network/Local Area Network) to help overhaul our government's global enterprise networks. This is a unique opportunity to engage in the design and transition of a modern service provider network architecture that supports mission-critical operations by replacing legacy systems with innovative network components.

As a Network Solutions Architect, your responsibilities will include:
  • Understanding customer needs and crafting standard design approaches for effective service delivery. You will be expected to document designs meticulously with diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and other supporting documents.
  • Utilizing our private test lab to assess new technologies, test changes to operational networks, and simulate troubleshooting scenarios for the global enterprise network.
  • Planning maintenance windows to seamlessly transition user connections from legacy systems to modern infrastructure with minimal disruption to critical data flows.
  • Providing expert technical guidance to operations engineers and technicians, specializing in fault isolation and resolution, while delivering innovative and scalable solutions to complex challenges.
  • Creating secure network designs that comply with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies; securing Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices and software.
  • Overseeing a team of network support specialists as they plan, coordinate, and implement network services, ensuring collaboration and efficiency.
  • Continuously enhancing design products and processes to streamline our team's operations and boost our effectiveness.
  • While the primary focus is on CAN/LAN, this position offers the chance to learn about Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Basic Requirements
  • Required Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, education, or related fields. This could be in the form of a Doctorate and 3 years, Master's and 4 years, Bachelor's and 6 years, Associate's and 8 years, or a High School diploma and 10 years.
  • Must hold a valid DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 certification (Security+ CE).
  • Proven experience in Tier III or higher network operations, network design, and implementation.
  • Past responsibilities should include production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper systems.
  • Hands-on experience with standard routing protocols like Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) in a live network environment.
  • Experience with standard switching and trunking protocols, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels, is essential.
Desired Qualifications
  • Specific experience in network engineering and design for CAN/LAN, including applying industry standards and integrating solutions into production environments.
  • Familiarity with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewall technologies.
  • Expertise in routing and switching protocols, particularly with extensive experience in BGP.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent expertise is highly regarded.
  • A self-starter with the discipline to work independently, along with experience in establishing processes, creating documentation, and organizing repositories.

Pay Range: The pay range for this position is $72,150.00 - $130,425.00. This range serves as a guideline and does not guarantee salary offerings.
