As a
Network Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our customer's network systems at
Shaw AFB. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of network infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions in a production environment. Your daily tasks will involve providing operational support for LAN/WAN networks and managing firewalls, as well as planning and installing hardware and software upgrades.
The ideal candidate will troubleshoot technical issues across network and routing protocols at all OSI model levels using network administration tools. You should have experience with Management Information Blocks (MIB) and MRTG to maintain high-performance levels and ensure minimal downtime. A key responsibility will be to protect the integrity of MTF systems by maintaining LAN-WAN barrier systems.
Key Responsibilities: - Respond effectively to network-related ticket requests.
- Utilize diagnostic utilities to identify problems across various mediums and protocols, evaluate issues, and implement solutions.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, and various network switch technologies.
- Address issues related to both synchronous and asynchronous communications, including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet.
- Possess experience in routed and switched LAN environments, managing routers, switches, and WAN connectivity.
- Act as the Point of Contact (POC) and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Medical Network administration at the hospital.
Qualifications for Success: - Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Sciences or equivalent experience; or a completed technical/vocational program with 2 years of related experience.
- A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with leadership at all levels.
- Hold a current DoD Security Clearance (minimum Public Trust).
- Meet the DOD 8570 certification requirement by obtaining a Security+ certification by the start date.
- Must achieve Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Skills: - Hands-on experience with Windows networks and Cisco Systems.
- Relevant certifications aligning with network architecture, such as Security+ and CCNA, or equivalent certifications.
