Description Join our dedicated team supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), responsible for overseeing command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services. In this role, you will directly contribute to deploying capabilities and services that support our mission for the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations.
We are looking for a talented Network Implementation Engineer to lead installations, configurations, testing, monitoring, and servicing of critical network equipment for projects within the Department of Defense networks.
Primary Responsibilities - Coordinate with customers, perform Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), execute reporting functions, and enter data related to new network equipment and services, ensuring compliance with DISA standards.
- Customize and maintain DISA's out-of-band management network using Cisco and Juniper devices based on site-specific configurations.
- Upgrade software on Cisco and Juniper devices to maintain optimal performance.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including IP addressing schemes and port assignments for out-of-band management nodes.
- Engage in systems analysis to capture hardware and software requirements in support of customer needs.
- Ensure accurate formatting and correctness of all information (POC, location, & interface) as per specified requirements.
- Verify points of contact (POC) for the network circuit traversal locations.
- Communicate with DISA project managers and customers to clarify requirements and address any issues with service requests.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate necessary approvals for service requests to maintain project momentum.
Basic Qualifications - A Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of experience.
- Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
- Certification in DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 (Security+ CE or equivalent) is required.
- Strong understanding of various network hardware, specifications, and testing processes.
- Experience in network engineering, problem management, and performance management.
- Expertise in networking architecture, capable of evaluating and recommending new technologies.
- Knowledgeable in data and voice network design across various transmission systems and protocols such as BGP, ISIS, and VLAN configurations.
- Proficient in network services including BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, and familiar with network appliances.
- Experience in configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
- A collaborative team player who is proactive and dedicated to completing assignments while advancing competencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on team building and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications - Previous experience at DISA or familiarity with DISA systems and processes is a plus.
- Background in SharePoint data entry or order processing in DISA systems.
- Previous experience placing and managing service orders for customers via DISA Storefront (DSF).
- Experience in conducting customer outreach to verify the accuracy of POC, location, and interface details.
