Network Engineer Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Continental US The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer (mid-to-senior level) to join the NTCSS Infrastructure Support Team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in enterprise network architecture, security, and operations. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in maintaining and expanding our network architecture, requiring a blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills. Self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple priorities Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures, including both wired and wireless systems
Utilize VCenter and manage Virtual Machines for network monitoring and optimization.
Perform Tier 1-2 level systems support for domain operations, including user account and application support
Utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite to manage and track workflows.
Execute network upgrades, including hardware/soft ware installations and configuration modifications
Ensure network security and compliance with industry standards and best practices
Perform STIG and RMF requirements on multiple hardware platforms (windows/rhel/cisco devices) Additional Responsibilities Include: Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
Troubleshoot network and hardware issues and provide timely resolutions.
Assist users with common problems within Systems Environments and network operations to ensure smooth functionality
Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and standard operating procedures.
Conduct regular network performance analysis and optimization.
Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network requirements are met for various projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices. Qualifications: Required: Must have an active secret clearance with the ability to obtain a T5 investigation clearance.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years of experience in network engineering roles
DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification or higher (ex. CompTIA Security+, CASP, CISSP)
Candidate selected should possess relevant certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of network protocols, including but not limited to DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, ARP, HTTP/HTTPS, and SSH
Proven experience with VLAN trunking, STP troubleshooting, and enterprise-level routing
Experience with protocol analyzers, IOS languages, and third-party applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in vCenter and VMware ESXi
Familiarity with physical security, WAN connectivity, VLANs, and firewalls.
Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices and data center equipment from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista) with an emphasis on Cisco equipment
Strong understanding of network security principles and implementation
Familiarity with network monitoring and analysis tools
Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, etc.)
Proficiency in configuring and maintaining network equipment from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto)
Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
