Description
Seeking a contract OT Network Engineer to assist with hands-on deployment, support, and remediation of Purdue Layers 2-4 infrastructure in refinery and pipeline environments. This is a field-oriented role, focused on executing scoped network changes, working with legacy switching environments, and maintaining segmentation between industrial zones. The position is hybrid from the Tacoma Refinery, includes travel, and will involve after-hours support as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute network changes and infrastructure tasks tied to refinery and pipeline project work.
Support rack-and-stack activities, cable routing, port patching, and documentation in active OT environments.
Perform Layer 2 switch configuration and troubleshooting, including VLAN provisioning, trunking, port-based segmentation, and STP loop prevention.
Apply scoped firewall rule changes and interface updates on FortiGate or equivalent OT firewalls supporting Purdue Layer 4 boundaries.
Operate under Par Pacific's formal change management framework: execute scoped tasks, follow risk/validation plans, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
Coordinate with refinery controls engineers and operations personnel to avoid disruption of industrial processes.
Maintain accurate cabinet-level diagrams, port maps, IP allocations, and interface assignments.
Respond to after-hours outages, change windows, or critical escalation as part of on-call rotation.
Travel to other Par Pacific locations (Hawaii, Montana, Wyoming) as needed , up to 20%.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience supporting OT or ICS networks in high-reliability industrial environments (refineries, pipelines, plants).
Deep proficiency with Layer 2 switching, especially in legacy environments (VLANs, trunk ports, EtherChannel, STP, MAC-based segmentation).
Familiarity with Purdue Model architecture, and hands-on experience operating in Purdue Layers 2 through 4.
Operational knowledge of Cisco switches and FortiGate (or similar) firewalls, including rule implementation, NAT, and segmentation boundaries.
Strong understanding of industrial safety protocols, PPE requirements, and safe work practices in hazardous zones.
Ability to execute scoped changes under formal change control, with clear documentation and rollback planning.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Industrial IT settings, including work in refineries, manufacturing, utilities, or energy production environments.
Familiarity with SCADA/PLC systems and networking dependencies.
Experience supporting Fortinet, Palo Alto, or comparable industrial firewall platforms.
Exposure to industrial cybersecurity and network compliance frameworks (ISA/IEC 62443, NIST 800-82, etc.).

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
