Network Engineer JD:
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to Join our team in San Jose, CA. This role is critical in implement, manage, and support our organization's networking infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in networking, security, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance, availability,
and security of our network systems.
Job Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot network issues, diagnose problems, and implement solutions in a timely manner.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain network security policies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control measures.
- Manage and optimize WAN, LAN, and wireless networks to support business operations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other IT teams and end-users.
- Work with vendors and service providers to ensure seamless network operations.
- Oversee data center infrastructure, including hardware installation, cabling, and vendor management.
Qualifications:
- BS in a computer related field or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, ISIS, etc.).
- Experience with Cisco, Checkpoint, Fortinet, or other network equipment.
- Familiarity with cloud networking (Oracle, Azure, AWS Cloud) is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge and experience troubleshooting Layer-2/3 protocols (VLANs, Vxlan, BGP, ISIS, IPv4/6, ARP, NAT), Layer-4 protocols (TCP, UDP, NAT), and Layer-7 protocols (HTTP, FTP, DNS)
- Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with speed and efficiency.
- Ability to self-motivate and manage/prioritize competing tasks.
- Team player with a high level of dedication and commitment to excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on familiarity with both Linux and Windows systems. SysAdmin experience with these is a plus.
- Ability to perform network programming with tools (API, Ansible, etc.)
- Knowledge of SD-WAN, Saas VPN, Cisco ACI Fabric, Firewalls, and Oracle cloud integration desired.
- Data center infrastructure management, including Cisco Nexus switches, server racks/cabling.
