Network Engineer Location: San Antonio, TX
Working Model: Hybrid (2-3 days in office)
Compensation: $95,000-$115,000 (depending on experience)
Our client is seeking a
Network Engineer to support and enhance their enterprise infrastructure. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining network reliability, performance, and security across multiple locations. You'll collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, troubleshoot network issues, and lead optimization efforts as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities for the Network Engineer - Design, implement, and manage LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems
- Monitor network performance and proactively troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Manage VPNs, VLANs, and IP schema across enterprise systems
- Maintain and upgrade hardware, firmware, and network security protocols
- Configure and manage firewall rules, access control lists, and threat prevention measures
- Collaborate with system administrators and security teams to ensure infrastructure alignment
- Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and disaster recovery plans
- Assist with the planning and execution of network expansions, migrations, and upgrades
- Evaluate and recommend new network tools and technologies to improve efficiency
- Ensure network compliance with company security policies and regulatory requirements
Preferred Skills & Qualifications for the Network Engineer - Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DNS, DHCP)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, or similar technologies
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks
- Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, or Wireshark
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices
Pluses for the Network Engineer - Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Knowledge of SD-WAN and network segmentation
- Exposure to VoIP systems and unified communications infrastructure
- Experience working in compliance-driven environments (HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2)
Education and Experience Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a network engineering or network support role
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or Fortinet NSE are a plus
