Position: Network Engineer (no C2C)
Location: Morrisville, NC
Duration: 6-month (contract to hire)

Our client, a manufacturer and supplier of jobsite protection products, is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain their network infrastructure, supporting approximately several hundred users in a Microsoft environment. The ideal candidate will ensure network performance, security, and reliability while providing technical support and troubleshooting for network-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
- Configure and support network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, access points).
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Support Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
- Manage Windows Server environments (installation, upgrades, patches).
- Implement and maintain network security policies, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems.
- Monitor network traffic for security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and data protection regulations.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for network-related issues.
- Work closely with Help Desk and Systems Administrators to resolve escalated IT issues.
- Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps.
- Assist in planning and executing network infrastructure upgrades.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers for network enhancements.
- 10-20% travel as needed
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 5 years of experience in network engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft-based networks, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, or similar networking equipment.
- Proficiency in TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, DNS, and firewall configurations.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate are preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud networking
- Knowledge of VoIP and telephony systems
- Familiarity with PowerShell, scripting, and automation
