Summary The Network Engineer is responsible for Troubleshooting, implementing and maintaining our network infrastructure and related IT systems that keep our organization running. This includes leveraging our managed services providers, participating in information security assessments and supporting the implementation of various tools and technologies. Network Engineers need a combination of technical skills, communication skills, and problem-solving skills. They also need to be able to multitask and manage time well. This position requires in-depth knowledge of Networking and routing principles and best practices with a solid understanding across multiple technologies and disciplines. This individual will help to ensure a robust network is supported and maintained in our data centers and across our entire enterprise.
Responsibilities - Maintain the day to day operations, health monitoring and performance of the corporate network.
- Implement, manage, update diverse network infrastructure including routers, switches, SDWAN, WAC, Evaluate and resolve hardware, software, or networking issues.
- Troubleshooting User complaints and incidents
- Recommend, test, and implement system and security upgrades, updates, deploying and managing ACLs
- Assist with supporting LAN, WAN, SDWAN, VXLAN and core network architecture
- Assist with incident responses, investigations, running tools, event documentation and reporting
- Assist IS team with completion of penetration tests, vulnerability assessments and other audit needs.
- Assist in the remediation and tracking of deficiencies identified from security audits and assessments
- Stay current with the latest networking technologies and trends including new and emerging threats, vulnerabilities
- Work with our Information Security Team for troubleshooting and to ensure we are complying with relevant security best practices
- Assist to create and maintain systems documentation, diagrams, policies and procedures
- Perform project tasks on select IT projects including development of requirements and evaluation, selection, implementation and testing of systems
- Assist in designs and review of new systems and major modifications of existing ones for negative implications prior to implementation
- Perform other related duties as directed
Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent field
- 5+ years of experience in an equivalent Information Technology Networking role
- A strong knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN communications and network hardware including Cisco routers and switches
- Knowledge and experience with Routing protocols BGP/OSPF
- Network certs (e.g. CompTIA, CCNA, CCNP) highly preferred
- Demonstrate skill and experience in overseeing the implementation and management of network and infrastructure systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate in both technical and user-friendly language
