Network Engineer (MSP) - 6-Month Contract-to-Hire (MSP)

Salary: $90,000-$105,000 (flexible for the right fit)

Overview


We are seeking a well-rounded Network Engineer with proven experience in the Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity in Indianapolis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and supporting complex network and cloud environments, with hands-on expertise in Office 365, Azure, Cisco, Meraki, and VMware. Industry certifications are a plus.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure for multiple clients, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability.
  • Configure, install, and support network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and VPNs (primarily Cisco and Meraki.
  • Administer and support Microsoft Office 365 and Azure environments, including migrations, security, and integration with on-premises systems.
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot VMware environments for server virtualization and business continuity.
  • Monitor network performance, conduct routine maintenance, and perform system upgrades, patches, and security configurations.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and serve as an escalation point for complex network and systems issues.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to assess requirements, plan projects, and deliver solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in networking, cloud, and security.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, with at least 2 years in an MSP environment supporting multiple clients.
  • Hands-on expertise with:
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration and migration
  • Microsoft Azure (IaaS, networking, security)
  • Cisco networking (routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Meraki wireless and security appliances
  • VMware virtualization (ESXi, vCenter)
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Experience with network security best practices and tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Azure, VMware, etc.) are a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python) for automation.
  • Exposure to backup solutions (e.g., Veeam), SSO (Okta), and RMM tools (Kaseya, Datto).
  • Additional certifications (e.g., Meraki, Microsoft, VMware).
