Description The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a dedicated and skilled
Network Engineer (Campus/Local Area Network) to join our team in supporting a global enterprise network for our government customer. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of modernizing network components while enhancing service delivery in a mission-focused operational environment.
As a part of our team, you will play a critical role in rebuilding a global enterprise network and will be involved in design, engineering, and transitioning various customer network requirements to a modern service provider architecture.
The key responsibilities for this
Network Engineer (CAN/LAN) position include:
- Interpreting customer requirements and applying standard design approaches for optimal service delivery. Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, including diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, and configurations.
- Utilizing our private test lab to assess new technologies, validate proposed changes to production networks, and simulate troubleshooting scenarios to ensure smooth operation.
- Coordinating maintenance windows for user connection migrations from legacy systems to modern infrastructure with minimal impact on critical data flows.
- Providing technical expertise to Operations engineers and technicians, aiding in fault isolation and resolution, and developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Creating secure network designs and configurations that comply with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies. Manage the process to obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and capabilities.
- Supervising network support specialists to effectively plan, coordinate, and implement network services.
- Enhancing design products, processes, and systems to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- This role primarily focuses on CAN/LAN, with opportunities to gain experience in Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Basic Requirements - Required Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience can be a combination of work history and education. Acceptable educational backgrounds include: Doctorate and 3 years, master's and 4 years, bachelor's and 6 years, associates and 8 years, or HS diploma and 10 years.
- Must possess DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 certification (Security+ CE).
- Experience in network engineering, including Tier III or higher network operations and/or design and implementation.
- Proven experience managing production network hardware configurations, particularly with Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper equipment.
- Hands-on experience with implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), in a production environment.
- Experience in implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port channels.
Desired Qualifications: - In-depth network engineering and design experience specific to CAN/LAN, including the application of industry standards and development of configurations for production integration.
- Familiarity with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls.
- Expertise in routing and switching protocols, with a focus on demonstrating knowledge through documentation and presentations. Extensive BGP experience is a plus.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent understanding is preferred.
- An initiative-driven mindset with the ability to work independently as part of a network engineering team. Experience in establishing processes, documenting systems, and organizing resources is beneficial.

Pay Range: Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
