What you will be doing. As a Network Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include maintaining existing networks and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Responsibilities Resolve routine network problems; operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators. Monitor data and voice system networks for messages, alarms, or issues. Respond to alarms and issues as they arise, confirming the accuracy and severity of the problems. Initiate resolutions as necessary. Troubleshoot issues using scripts and standard procedures, escalating unresolved problems as appropriate. Research issues to determine if they can be resolved using predefined protocols. Resolves basic issues; documents the results. Communicates alarms or issues and the resulting actions taken to resolve or escalate the problem. Execute scheduled maintenance routines in accordance with established procedures. Identify and address issues or problems, escalating when necessary Activates/deactivates network lines according to established schedules. Performs first- and/or second-level problem determination Interfaces with users and/or network vendors. Follow detailed work instructions competently. Experience and Education: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in similar programs and contracts is required. An associate's degree in engineering technology from an accredited college is mandatory. Alternatively, two (2) additional years of network engineering experience may substitute for the associate's degree. Experience installing and configuring various network devices, such as firewalls, switches, routers, cabling, and devices from manufacturers like Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper, is advantageous. Proficiency in supporting WAN technologies like SONET (OC3, OC48), DS3, T1, etc., is preferred. Familiarity with Taclanes/KG-175, as well as experience with MPLS, BGP, and VPNs, is desirable. An IAT Level II baseline certification Availability for an 8-hour shift between 6 AM and 6 PM An active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph to be considered for this role.
