Network Engineer

An employer is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join their small team of four individuals. This person will work on various projects, some of the larger ones currently focused on Data Centers.

Monitor network links for LAN/WAN, monitor performance/tuning, ensure capacity planning is performed, and proactively assess and make recommendations for improvement
Understand networking protocols and technologies, including routing, switching, and load balancing. Install, configure, and maintain routers and switches.
Develop and maintain documentation regarding network configurations, operating procedures, and service records relating to network hardware and software
Assist in knowledge transfer and training staff in implementations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of LAN/WAN.

Required Skills & Experience

10+ years experience in:
Troubleshooting data center networks
BGP routing
Expertise in Cisco products and technologies
Understanding of network protocols, including routing and switching
Administering IP networks in a near zero downtime environment
DNS/DHCP technologies
Troubleshooting network issues & building VPN
Using SNMP based monitoring software
Cloud experience (currently on Azure)
- Able to do occasional over night travel, about one trip every other month.
- Experience working on a smaller team.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Administering Firewall Platforms (currently using Palo Alto)
Experience with Cisco APIC and ACI
CCNA, CCNP
Prior NOC experience
SD-WAN experience
802.11x experience
