Network Deployment Engineer - Onsite (New York City, NY)

KeenLogic is hiring a Network Deployment Engineer to support DOE school infrastructure deployments, including provisioning, monitoring, and real-time support. The Network Deployment Engineer will collaborate with internal DOE teams and the integration vendor to manage network deployment, provisioning, monitoring, and inventory control. The engineer will also create and update DOE integration applications, configuration templates, scripts, automated reporting, and dashboards. The role requires technical expertise to ensure proper network provisioning, integration, and monitoring. This engineer will support network refresh rollouts in schools, generate reports, and provide ongoing IT support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for deployed systems.

This is a full-time position offering Fortune 500-level health/dental/vision, PTO, 401k, and Life Insurance.

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week. When feasible, work will be performed during administrative business hours (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM). However, site integrations typically take place after school hours from 2:30 PM onwards, and the candidate will be required to provide after-hours technical support.

Equipment: Candidates must bring their own laptop and cellphone. DOE does not provide equipment.

The Division of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT) is dedicated to supporting equity and excellence with minimal disruptions, ensuring that staff and students have access to the technology and resources necessary for high-quality education.

The CCU Project aims to enhance network infrastructure to create dynamic and engaging learning environments. As education evolves with online, remote, and blended learning, the demand for network upgrades increases. Initiatives like computer-based testing, the rise in mobile devices, and the one-to-one student-computer ratio require a robust infrastructure to support them.

Technological tools such as virtual classrooms, online learning platforms, and parent engagement apps are essential to achieving the Chancellor's goals of Equity and Excellence, ensuring all students, parents, and teachers have equal access to education.

Required Qualifications:
  • Certification: Cisco Networking Certification
  • 7+ years in network operations, including routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and network technologies.
  • 3+ years with network configuration for routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless devices.
  • 2+ years creating network configuration and status reports.
  • 2+ years preparing network diagrams, floor plans, and schematics using Visio or similar tools.
  • 3+ years providing Level I, II, and III network support for wired and wireless LAN.
  • 7+ years configuring Cisco switches (C9K, 68XX, 4XXX, 29XX), routers (C8XXX, ISR 29XX, ISR 4XXX), firewalls (ASA 55XX, Firepower 21XX), and wireless devices.
  • 4+ years working with large LAN/WAN infrastructure and Cisco networking equipment.
  • Highly detail-oriented and process-driven.
Job Duties:
  • Engineering Support: Provide engineering support for school network integrations, reviewing proposed work plans to ensure alignment with DIIT network standards.
  • Validation of Work: Ensure the work completed by the integrator is accurate, complete, and documented correctly.
  • Network Design Review: Compare Network Design Plans with integrator submissions using the NOC Inventory Collection Engine (NICE) to confirm work completion.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve network malfunctions remotely, providing support for issues arising during deployment activities.
  • Integration Refresh: Assist with integration refresh projects for school infrastructure by reviewing and approving work plans for hardware and software installation.
  • Real-Time Support: Provide real-time assistance to integrators during equipment installation, troubleshooting network and wireless issues.
