Defense Technology Integration, LLC is seeking a Network Engineer to become an integral part of our team.
You will be responsible for designing and implementing computer and information networks supporting the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. The position is hybrid onsite and remote and requires U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities: Network Engineer - Responsible for Installation, configuration, and support of an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system.
- Maintains network hardware and software. Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
- Performs a full range of complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies within a single network; evaluates new network technologies and makes recommendations to project managers regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network; plans new configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to insure effective integration and optimal network performance.
- Ensures that adequate and appropriate planning is provided for hardware and communications facilities to develop and implement methodologies for analysis, installation and support of voice communications systems; and provides support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders.
- Analyzes user's requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop network requirements specifications. Analyzes network requirements and capacity and leads design and development activities. Provides technical leadership for the integration of network requirements, design, and technology. Incorporates new network plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations. Develops network architecture and network design documentation. Guides network development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of network engineering management plans and network integration and test plans
- Designs and performs integration of new technologies into local and wide area networks. Provides advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex network problems. Manages the transition and migration of networks and development of network addressing schemes.
- Ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. Responsibilities include planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely, accurately, and provide end user training.
- Troubleshoot network incidents, providing root cause analysis and documenting information in tickets and knowledge repositories
- Coordinate system maintenance, monitoring, and installation of multiple WAN/LAN environments encompassing multiple specializations, platforms, and technologies
- Troubleshoot and resolve network media and components
- Develop and maintain a roadmap for capabilities, operations, and technologies
- Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation
- Support network traffic analysis and bandwidth optimization efforts to ensure attainment of performance and availability objectives
- Evaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication technologies to enhance capacity, performance, and reliability of the network
- Evaluate and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practices
- Follows all Customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies
- Represent customer requirements in technical exchanges with other government agencies
- Perform site to new installations and technology refresh
- Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams
- Contribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids
Certification Requirements: - CCIE (Enterprise) certification AND 5 years of Data Center operational experience or equivalent.
OR - CCNP (Enterprise) certification AND 10 years of equivalent Data Center operational experience
