Join the University of Colorado and play a crucial role in supporting the networks that power groundbreaking medical research at the Anschutz Medical Campus, as well as the diverse academic pursuits of undergraduates at the Denver Auraria Campus. We are seeking a Network Engineer who can expertly support the university's network infrastructure, from core to distribution and access levels, and design and implement BGP peerings with ISPs, cloud providers, and other universities.

Key Responsibilities:
•  Work on a multi-vendor service provider MPLS environment.
•  Support WAN connections connecting the university campuses to remote clinics, other universities and internet.
•  Configure and install routers, assist other teams with deployment of switches.
•  Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity.
•  Work with an energetic and fast-paced team to implement big changes on a short timeline.
•  Opportunity to work on 100 and 400G circuits. Work Location:

Hybrid - This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment. AMC OIT strives for a high-flex work environment, meaning although this role can predominately be executed effectively with a remote schedule, there may be instances where in-person meetings and/or activities are needed. There is no minimum or prescribed in-person requirement. The work schedule will be based around core working hours in Colorado Mountain Time.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
•  Bachelor's degree in information security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Education, or a closely related field
•   Substitution: 4 years of professional or high-level technical work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree. An associate's degree with two years of relevant work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree Experience:

Professional:
•  2 years of experience with LAN and WAN environment, which includes basic routing and switching topologies
•  2 years of experience with IP routing protocols and layer2 spanning-tree architecture Senior:
•  2-5 years of experience with LAN and WAN environment, which includes complex routing and switching topologies
•  2-5 years of experience with MPLS, and complex routing protocols and redistribution Principal:
•  3-7+ years of experience with LAN and WAN environment, which includes complex routing and switching topologies
•  3-7+ years of experience architecting and managing complex campus environments Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
•  Networking certification(s) - CCNA/CCNP or equivalent from other vendors
•  Large network switching and routing experience including MPLS and Segment Routing
•  Experience with VPN and wireless networking
•  At least four years of professional experience working in an enterprise class higher education environment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•  Familiarity with routing protocols and Layer 2 spanning tree protocols.

•  Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
