- JOB SUMMARY
- Reports to the IST Manager of Networks and Telecommunications. Utilizes knowledge of network infrastructure to support Telephony/LAN/WAN/RF/wireless connectivity solutions for King's Daughters Medical Center. Responsibilities include monitoring all aspects of the network, maximizing network availability, and implementing and configuring network and telephony hardware and software. This position trains and acts as a mentor to other Network Engineers, performs project management for small to large projects, and utilize process improvement techniques.
- DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Interfaces directly with the IST help desk and support technicians to resolve and document network and telecommunication troubleshooting tickets, bugs, reports, and errors.
- Monitors and configures remote access for end users and vendors from a network perspective; also, monitoring and maintaining security for the LAN/WAN/RF/wireless network.
- Coordinates network implementations, upgrades and updates by participating in conducting needs assessments related to network/telco technologies as well as performing hardware/software installations and configurations related to network/telco technologies.
- Required to document and update existing topology of KDMC networks as well as design new network topologies.
- Medium to advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS, and Cisco Unified Communications administration.
- Knowledge of routing protocols including, but not limited to, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Recommends solutions or alternatives to meet KDMC needs by identifying opportunities for improvement in technology or operations.
- Serve as a technical advisor to the organization's users, professionals, and maintains open positive communication with clients.
- Provide on-call and after-hours technical support during scheduled rotations.
- Required to work and support after hours' monthly downtimes if needed.
- Must follow all established UKKD security policies and procedures.
- EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum requirement:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, another appropriate field OR equivalent experience.
- Five to seven years of experience in network engineering including design, support, and troubleshooting
- Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in VoIP, proxy servers, firewalls, and VPN administration
- Certification as a Certified Network Engineer
- WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Works in an office environment; however, work is sometimes preformed in small, cramped areas.
- Work is preformed in a fast-paced environment requiring the ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines.
- Some after-hours installation and network support activities are required in order to ensure the customers' needs are met.
- Requires carrying a pager 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
- Some regional travel to KDMC facilities and affiliated sites is required.

- Constantly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer.
- Frequently required to move about inside the department and throughout the Medical Center.
- Constantly required to communicate telephonically and face to face with colleagues and customers.
- Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
- Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
