Position Overview:

SHR Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Network Engineer III to lead and support advanced enterprise networking solutions within a hybrid and cloud-integrated federal IT environment. This role requires an in-depth understanding of network architecture, operations, and security across both on-premise and cloud infrastructure.

The Network Engineer III will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing network infrastructure that supports mission-critical federal systems. This includes WAN/LAN environments, cloud connectivity, and secure remote access. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with enterprise-level routing, switching, firewall management, and performance optimization.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage large-scale, enterprise-level hybrid network infrastructures (LAN/WAN/Cloud).
  • Implement secure and scalable networking solutions aligned with agency modernization goals.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues across environments.
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
  • Develop network topology diagrams, documentation, and change control records.
  • Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments on network components.
  • Implement best practices for network segmentation, access control, and zero trust architecture.
  • Collaborate with cloud and cybersecurity teams to ensure seamless and secure connectivity between data centers and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Support migration efforts from legacy systems to modern network infrastructures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal IT and cybersecurity policies, including NIST and DHS standards.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Certifications:

At least one of the following:
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Experience:
  • Must have 10 years or more experience
