The Network Architecture Team collectively comprises the Subject Matter Expertise for all network technology realms for customer-serving networks at Consolidated.

The Network Architect will be responsible for technical leadership within the Engineering organization for all network technologies and applications. The position drives future vision for the network and provides technical expertise, strategic planning, and recommendations to executive management. The position applies best current design principles and methodology to deliver cost-effective, scalable, and optimal use of technology to enhance the network and design solutions for business and product requirements while ensuring network integrity.

The Network Architect cultivates partnerships with other teams to understand and guide business requirements, including those of: Network Engineering, Network Operations, Sales Engineering, Product Management, Technology Development, Network Security, Information Technology.

Responsibilities
  • Work out of Rochester, NH Lab to provide hands-on support for Network Architecture and Technology Development
  • Ordering, installing, configuring and maintaining equipment in the lab
  • Network Administration of various software and equipment platforms in the lab, including: test systems, ESXi/vCenter, RADIUS, various EMS and NMS Lab instances, IPAM, etc.
  • Documentation of lab configurations and resources for remote employees using the lab.
  • Detailed understanding of Network Architecture and individual components of the network itself. (NID, Routers, OLT's, etc.)
  • Develop, document, and execute repeatable test plans.
  • Evaluate new Equipment and Software and documentation of test plan.
  • Software regression testing and documentation of test plan
  • Take lead in working with other groups on new projects and managing those projects.
  • Provide assistance to Network Operations teams in emergency scenarios.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of telephony experience
  • Ability to Communicate complex topics and ideas, in writing or verbally, in concise or detailed manner, depending on the intended audience.
  • Legacy Telephone and Data Background
  • DSL, PON, DWDM, VoIP, TDM, Carrier Ethernet understanding of Design and Architecture along with hands-on experience
  • Understanding of AC and DC powering systems
  • Linux knowledge is preferred.
  • IP experience with certifications preferred (CCNA or better)
  • Programming experience is preferred for automating lab testing and administration. Python, JSON, etc.
  • Experience in Service Activation Testing is preferred.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor, as a technical lead, and as a participant within a team environment
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language to communicate with employees, vendors, and customers in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
