The Network Architect designs computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), internet, intranet, and other data communications systems. Moreover, this employee creates, tests, and evaluates networks in furtherance of the University's goals and objectives.
Department Specific Functions
- Design and Implementation: Architect, design, and implement wireless network solutions that meet specific requirements. This includes defining network topologies, selecting appropriate Aruba hardware and software, and configuring network settings.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, providing technical guidance and support to internal teams.
- Network Optimization: Analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize network performance.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of network designs and implementations, including diagrams, specifications, and procedures.
- Staying Current: Stay abreast of the latest Aruba technologies, industry standards, and best practices in wireless networking.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other network professionals, including network engineers and system administrators, to ensure the smooth operation of the network.
- Security: Implement and maintain network security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access. Knowledge of security protocols, authentication methods (RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP), and security solutions.
- Thorough understanding of Aruba's line of wireless access points, controllers, and ClearPass Authentication Services and software.
- Aruba Architecture: Familiarity with Aruba's wireless network architecture, including controllers, cloud-based management, and other Aruba-specific features.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Aruba certifications, such as Aruba Certified Associate (ACA) or Aruba Certified Professional (ACP) and Aruba ClearPass Certification
Experience:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, 5+ years of experience in network engineering and architecture
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Commitment to the University's core values.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
