The Network Architect role is responsible for design, operations, life cycle management, and security of all DataBank data center and enterprise networks. This includes 73 data centers across 29 markets in the US and EMEA. This engineering role will work directly with other internal engineering, cloud, operations, sales, product, and data center teams to ensure the resiliency and reliability of all network products and services. They will provide subject matter expertise in their area of responsibility across the business and mentor junior engineering staff to increase team effectiveness. The individual should have a team first mentality and work well cross functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities: Network design and architecture for Service Provider, Cloud/Bare Metal, Security, and IT networks
Documentation of designs, standards, as-builts and policy/procedures
Security and Compliance assurance
Technology refresh and platform innovation
Network Migration strategy and planning
Tier 4 Escalation for Operations and Support Organizations
Execution of complex changes in the multivendor network environment
Interacting with customers for complex activations, migrations, and incidents
Responsible for Product Engineering of new services and features
Ability to write code and scripts to automate routine network tasks
Mentoring of junior engineering staff
Qualifications: 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in Service Provider and Cloud networks
Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, telecommunications engineering, or related discipline
Preferred Juniper JNCIP Certification
Extensive experience with OSPF, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, STP, MPLS, SDWAN, VPN, IPSEC, DNS, DHCP, NTP
Comprehensive experience managing large scale Layer 2/3 topologies
Comprehensive experience with (JunOS, MX, QFX, EX) (Cisco IOS/IOS-XR/NX-OS, FEX)
Experience with Firewalls, DDOS, IPSec, SIEM, WAF and IDS/IPS
Experience with Cisco ASA ( with SSPx), ASAv (5,10,30,50), Palo Alto(800/3000/5000)
Experience with F5 server load balancing: LTM and DNS
Designing, testing, documenting, and deployment of new network technologies
Preferred experience in NETCONF, SDN, API integration and open-source network tools
Strong knowledge of scripting languages and automation including AI
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including excellent written/verbal communications
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques and change management execution
Exhibits mature organizational and time management skills
Experience with high availability global environment with 99.999% SLA
Accomplishes task with minimal supervision
Optional skills: Datacenter Network Infrastructure design and deployment.
