The Alaka ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Network Administrator to provide research support administration services for our government customer in San Diego, California . DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Configure Local Area Network Devices to adhere to Defense Health Agency (DHA) standards, to include DHCP, SNMP, VLAN, SSH, IP address assignment, device monitoring and automation. Perform root cause analysis of network-related connectivity issues using system log and packet capture analysis. Design and maintain Network Topology and Accreditation Boundary diagrams of all network infrastructure, including network services, physical connections, logical data flow, and endpoint categories. Maintain lifecycle management of all network hardware to include asset accountability, perform periodic inventory inspections and documentation of all enterprise location network device assets. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for network device configuration, refine procedures and documentation as changes are implemented. Maintain Subject-Matter Expertise (SME) in the operation of Ruckus Networks equipment. Adapt existing network configurations to changes in technology package and standards. Expand Local Area Network as needed to support operational requirements. WLAN management to include: Design, implement, and administer Wireless LAN transport methods, consult on equipment selection and location, install devices and Wireless Access Points for compliant connectivity to all Wireless Clients. Maintain knowledge in the operation of wireless network equipment. Expand WLAN as needed to support the evolving requirements of Surface Warfare Medical institute (SWMI). Perform updates to all WLAN devices. Troubleshoot and resolve Wireless network outages.
Network Security to include the following: Develop network security control procedures based on Risk Management Framework, NIST SP 800-53, and command policies. Implement security controls and analyze current technology packages for vulnerabilities and exposures on all network devices. Perform weekly vulnerability scanning and compliance checks on network infrastructure devices. Monitor and respond to security events, alerts, and task orders, submit periodic reports of compliance with established security policies. Monitor cybersecurity information channels to observe the latest developments in vulnerabilities, exploits, and countermeasures.
Physical-Layer Media Management to include the following: Design, implement, specify, install and repair physical media (Twisted-Pair Ethernet cabling, patch panels, optic fiber, cable paths & conduit) to enable and maintain network connectivity throughout the campus Perform ethernet cabling and/or port installation and wall jack services as needed. Communications Room Maintenance, to include the following: Monitor physical security, safety, and environmental conditions. Submit work orders to SWMI Facilities and NMCSD Public Works to correct deficiencies. Perform cable patching and maintain equipment installed into secure spaces. Install on-premises network device hardware, environmental monitoring hardware, and Uninterruptable Power Supply hardware.
Evaluating new technology packages and advising senior IT staff on the network-related matters involved. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma and Minimum of five (5) years' experience providing IT support on platforms under the DoD governance, policy, and regulations industry. CompTIA Security+ or higher certification (i.e. CySA+ or Security X) ITIL v4 certification within six (6) months of start date
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Knowledge and experience performing network systems administration tasks and to include analyzing system logs and completing system documentation when resolving network management issues. Knowledge and experience in the management and operations of LAN/WLAN equipment.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE: U.S. Citizen Must have an active Top Secret clearance.
