Job Description: Network Engineer (AWS Expertise)

Location: Old Saybrook, ConnecticutOverview Tantor Media, an audiobook publisher in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, has an opening for an experienced Network and Cloud Engineer to help with its growing IT needs. Tantor Media is a division of Recorded Books and produces audiobooks under the Tantor and Highbridge imprints. This is a full-time position (40 hours weekly) that will report directly to the Director of Technical Services
Key Responsibilities - Network Design and Implementation: Develop and implement network solutions that integrate with AWS cloud services, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security.
- Manage AWS networks: Set up, oversee, and maintain VPCs, subnets, route tables, and gateways.
- Security: Collaborate with the security engineer to apply standard practices for network security, including designing secure architectures, configuring firewalls, and managing security groups and access control lists.
- Performance Optimization: Regularly monitor network performance and promptly troubleshoot issues to reduce downtime, latency, and other bottlenecks.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with DevOps, software developers, and IT teams to ensure network architectures meet application requirements and business objectives.
- Automation: Use automation tools and frameworks (e.g., AWS CloudFormation, Terraform) to simplify network deployments and updates.
- Documentation: Ensure all network configurations, processes, and policies are documented accurately and kept current.
- Training and Support: Provide technical support to end users as required
Required Skills and Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Networking Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of networking basics, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and load balancing.
- Cloud Computing: Experience with AWS services such as VPC, EC2, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, Cloudwatch.
- Tools and Frameworks: Experience in using network monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, CloudWatch) and automation frameworks like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues efficiently.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities.
Preferred Skills - Experience with platforms like Microsoft O365, Okta, Automox.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud and cloud architectures.
