The Senior Network Engineer designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities. The Senior Network Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Network Engineer develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods. Prepares the analysis of the short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Implementation: Oversee the deployment and integration of network solutions & Ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical expertise.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and project progress.
  • Process Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation to ensure consistency and quality in network delivery.
  • Performance Evaluation: Develop and evaluate network performance criteria and measurement methods to ensure optimal operation.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that network solutions comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Capacity Planning: Analyze short-term and long-term capacity needs for switching, routing, transmission, and signaling.
  • Network Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of network systems, from initial planning and design through implementation, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning.
  • Lifecycle Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize network performance and capacity throughout its lifecycle to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve network issues, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in network services delivery or a related role.
  • Expertise with Network discovery, design, and deployment.
  • Project management, scope of work documentation, and defining success criteria
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in network technologies and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications a plus
  • Arista - ACE-L2
  • Cisco - CCNP
  • Palo Alto - PCNSE
  • Google - Professional Cloud Network Engineer
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of network technologies, including switching, routing, transmission, and signaling.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze network performance and capacity needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies in a rapidly evolving field.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing network projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Process Documentation: Proficiency in creating and maintaining detailed process documentation.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve network issues efficiently.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and document network configurations and changes.
  • Network Lifecycle Management: Expertise in managing the entire lifecycle of network systems, from planning and design to decommissioning.
  • Mentorship: Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
Additional Information

Work-At-Home Requirements
  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information


Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$97,900 - $133,500 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
