Position Purpose This position performs Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes to raw material, aircraft, aircraft parts and components in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Industry Specifications (NAS, ASTM, etc.) and Erickson requirements. Complies with all company policies and Standard Operating Procedures as a team player. Job Leveling The three pay grades for this job description are 204 (NDT Technician I), 140402 (NDT Technician II), and 140403 (NDT Technician III). These positions require different levels of experience, job knowledge and skills. The characteristics for each level are: The NDT Technician I (Level 1) is distinguished from the NDT Technician II (Level 2) by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned within the series. Employees at this level may have only limited experience and receive regular instruction or assistance in the performance of their assigned duties. Zero to two years experience is desirable. Advancement to the II level is based on demonstrated proficiency in all duties. The NDT Technician II (Level 2) is distinguished from the NDT Technician I (Level 1) by the performance of the full range of duties and responsibilities. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of company procedures and SOP's. Advancement to the III level is based on demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of the job, and successful completion of project responsibilities with minimum oversight. Two to four years of experience is required. The NDT Technician III (Level 3) is distinguished from the NDT Technician II (Level 2) by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties including assuming project management responsibilities when assigned. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained and aware of all applicable Procedures and SOP's. Researches, creates, and trains new NDT processes and procedures. Additionally, they train and test other NDT Technicians and foster technical growth. Five or more years of increasingly responsible experience is required. Duties & Responsibilities Performs NDT processes to raw materials aircraft and aircraft parts. Performs required daily, etc., testing of NDT solutions and equipment. Documents work per company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Maintains equipment and tools to perform NDT processes. Reads, interprets, and complies with Repair Station Quality Manual, Production Certificate Quality Manual, Standard Operation Procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, Industry Specifications, Technical Manuals, and Drawings. This position is an Inspector and must meet Erickson, FAA, etc., requirements. Achieves and maintains task qualifications for all work performed. Works in a team environment and follow Erickson's Values Charter. Provides support to internal and external customers to meet customer requirements. Travels as required to meet company and customer requirements. Performs administrative duties (e.g. time entry, DAX, training classes, creates, revises and uses department documents, etc.) as required by Erickson company and department requirements. Performs Lean, Standard Work and Continuous Process Improvements. Mentors, trains and coaches new employees when qualified as a mentor or trainer. Maintains an organized work area and good housekeeping practices. Documents work performed per company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Interprets NDT results and report accurately the findings. Work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and products to perform required. Responsible for the care of NDT equipment and tools. Achieves and maintains task qualifications for all work performed. Researches, creates and trains new NDT processes and procedures. Performs testing and evaluations of NDT Technicians. Interprets NDT results and report accurately the findings. Minimum Qualifications Ability to perform NDT processes (FPI, FMPI, UT, EC as required and task qualified) for aircraft, aircraft parts and components. Skill in performing required solution and equipment testing as required by specification. Ability to use NDT equipment, tools, manuals, and specifications. Ability to read, interpret, and comply with Repair Station Quality Manual, Production Certificate Quality Manual, Standard Operation Procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, Technical Manuals, Drawings, and Industry Specifications. Level 1: 0-2 years - experience in FPI and/or FMPI processes preferred. Level 2: 2-4 years - experience in FPI and/or FMPI processes. Vocational or Industry level 2 certification for NDT processes performing or equivalent schooling. Level 3: 5 plus years - experience in FPI, FMPI, EC and UT processes or demonstrated proficiencies and ability to achieve level 3 certifications. High School Diploma or equivalency, valid driver's license Good verbal and written communication skills. Work 40 or more hours per week as directed (overtime, weekends, etc.) Ability to travel domestically and internationally as directed and drive company vehicles or rental vehicles as directed.
