Position: NAS - Associate Engineer
Successful candidate will be relied upon to support the development of engineering analyses under the supervision of senior engineering staff. Successful candidates should have working knowledge of evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Individuals must possess technical knowledge of the nuclear or mechanical discipline and an ability to work on project teams with other engineers. Individuals will assist in developing calculations which will evaluate plant performance, safety, and reliability. The ability to follow project Quality Assurance procedures is necessary when tasked. For individuals interested in software, a successful candidate must have general software development and problem-solving skills.

Good client interface/communication skills, as well as the ability to coordinate and interface with other disciplines, are a must.
Potential Technical Tasks: Throughout the time in this position, the following tasks may be performed:
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
- Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.
- Works on small projects or portions of larger projects.
- Independently develops and reviews simple computer models/analyses in one application area (Thermal-Hydraulic and/or Radiological Computer Models).
- Prepares complete project documents in areas of skill.
- Formulates and solves problems utilizing training and study.
- Develops more complex models in one application area with a mentor.
And/Or - Performs programming tasks including confirmation testing.
- Updates and extends legacy applications.
- Debug user errors.
- Documents code per company standards.
Managerial Responsibilities: None initially. After one year of experience, may assign tasks to and coordinate with technicians or administrative staff. After three years of experience, may coordinate work with new entry-level staff and provide input to budget and schedule.
Professional Activities: Member of industry organization preferred.
QualificationsEducation Required: Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (nuclear, mechanical, or chemical) or science from an ABET accredited university.
Experience Required: Entry-level position (0-3 years).
Other Qualifications: All applicants must possess good oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Successful candidates will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes. Overtime work is required at times. Travel is required to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required.

Preferred Education: MS in an appropriate engineering discipline (nuclear, mechanical, or chemical) from an ABET accredited university is desired.
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of thermal hydraulics analysis and radiological analysis is desired. For individuals interested in software, knowledge of computer languages, data structures, and software design methods and techniques are desired.
Preferred Certification(s) or License(s) Required: Professional Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration is desired.
