About the Role

Overview: A singer-songwriter is seeking a mid-level freelance music producer to collaborate on a personal project. The project involves creating a 12-song concept album, with each song representing a chapter in a story. The producer will be responsible for arranging backing elements and working within various genres including folk noir, pop, rock, indie, and alternative. This is a remote, short-term engagement lasting approximately one week.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate closely with the artist to understand the vision for the concept album
2. Arrange and produce backing elements for 12 songs, including piano, strings, bass, drums, and harmonies
3. Blend various musical styles including folk noir, pop, rock, indie, and alternative
4. Ensure each song aligns with its corresponding chapter in the overall story
5. Provide creative input to enhance the musical narrative of the album
6. Mix and balance all musical elements to create a cohesive sound
7. Work efficiently to complete the project within the given timeframe
8. Communicate regularly with the artist to discuss progress and incorporate feedback

Requirements

1. Proven experience as a mid-level music producer, particularly in the indie and alternative music scenes
2. Strong portfolio demonstrating versatility across various musical genres, including folk noir, pop, rock, indie, and alternative
3. Proficiency in music production software and techniques
4. Expertise in arranging and producing various instrumental elements (piano, strings, bass, drums) and vocal harmonies
5. Ability to understand and contribute to a conceptual narrative through music
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with artists
7. Capability to work remotely and manage time effectively
8. Availability to dedicate approximately one week to the project
9. Creative problem-solving skills to enhance the musical storytelling
10. Flexibility to incorporate the artist's feedback and make revisions as needed
