Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Team Leader (MTL) plays a key role in overseeing daily production activities, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met. The MTL coordinates team workflows, supports employee development, drives continuous improvement, and acts as a liaison between frontline operators and management. This position is hands-on and requires leadership, accountability, and strong problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of production associates to achieve operational goals.


  • Monitor daily output to meet production schedules and quality standards.


  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies at all times.


  • Conduct shift start-up meetings, assign tasks, and adjust staffing as needed.


  • Identify and address process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.


  • Support training and onboarding of new team members.


  • Perform and oversee in-process inspections and maintain production documentation.


  • Troubleshoot equipment or workflow issues, escalating when necessary.


  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve production challenges.


  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S and lean principles.


  • Track team performance metrics and contribute to performance evaluations.


  • Ensure accurate completion of shift handovers and production reports.



Qualifications:

Education & Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.


  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.


  • 1+ year in a leadership or lead operator role preferred.



Skills & Competencies:


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.


  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations and safety practices.


  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems (ERP/MES a plus).


  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings.
