MS SQL Database Administrator to be a key resource on a technical services team.

Responsibilities Performs highly complex (senior-level) database and application administration work in the Information Systems Division. Work involves defining, monitoring, maintaining, developing and tuning integrated database system environments for client's application areas. Works primarily within Microsoft SQL Server and related application environments.
Also actively explores the need and application of AI and data analysis for DBA duties in the near future. Works under limited direction of the Database Administrator Team Lead with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: - Provides accurate and timely system and database administration for client's applications. Plans database server layout, conducts SQL Server instance capacity planning. Implements and manages databases and environments to provide healthy, robust, and scalable database platforms. Ensures the integrity, reliability and performance of the database environment for development, test, and production systems.
- Provides accurate and timely technical support for application client/server and web environments, including development, test and production systems. Provides technical assistance to development, end-user and other staff.
- Installs, configures, upgrades, and patches database software, application software and other supporting products. Coordinates activities with vendors as necessary for timely installation, software upgrades and maintenance as well as configuration and management ensuring use of best practices.
- Performs application and database backup/recovery and cloning.
- Participates in the development and documentation of operating procedures and metrics and perform quality control to ensure the standards and requirements are met. Analyzes existing procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborates with various teams including application and network teams.
- Participates in strategic planning in a highly complex manner, including the AI and data analytics fields.
- Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies. Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct. Performs on-call or scheduled after hours work as required.
