Position at Trail Blazers

Become a part of the team behind the team.

As employees of the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Quarter, we do more than basketball. We are blazing trails toward winning championships on and off the court.

We are pioneers and innovators. We look for people who push boundaries, who dream, who are committed to inclusivity - who want to contribute to Rip City.

As our Motion Graphics/3D Designer, you will create, design, format, and execute motion graphic elements for the arena, digital, broadcasting, marketing, partnership, and other Trail Blazers departments. In this role, you will collaborate with the creative team-including designers, video editors, producers, and stakeholders-to turn ideas into dynamic, high-impact visuals for a variety of platforms.

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned animator and designer with proven experience in After Effects and in-depth knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator. We're looking for a creative problem-solver who can take a rough idea, transform it into a clear vision, and bring it to life on the Jumbotron at Moda Center, social media, and beyond. If you're passionate about visual storytelling and thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment, we'd love to hear from you. Apply by March 26, 2025.

DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Conceptualize and design high-quality and visually dynamic motion graphics, animations, and visual effects for LED displays, digital content, and other requested projects.
  • Assist with keying, rotoscoping, and other compositing of video footage.
  • Create and manipulate production assets (photography and video) by adding typography, illustrations, color grades, and overlays to enhance final productions.
  • Bring static design elements to life through animation by applying keyframes, scripts, and other techniques to enhance visual storytelling.
  • Stay current with the latest motion design trends, techniques, and AI advancements in the visual effects industry.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with the Creative Service team and provide creative input to help develop ideas, project direction, and design concepts.
  • Have a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
WE'D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU:
  • Have demonstrated experience in motion graphic design
  • Are highly skilled in motion graphics software such as Adobe After Effects
  • Possess a deep understanding of Adobe platforms such as After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere
  • Have experience with Cinema 4D, Redshift plug-ins, and other AE scripts
  • Have familiarity with After Effects plug-ins like Red Giant and Mocha
  • Have working knowledge of Keyframe Easing and Text Animators
  • Are creative and forward-thinking
  • Possess strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the flexibility to work within a rapidly changing environment
  • Have strong time and resource management skills
  • Are able to follow directions relayed through project management software and understand project goals, deadlines, and final deliverables.
  • Are available to occasionally work flexible hours, including game nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed
WE'D BE THRILLED IF YOU ALSO HAVE:
  • Experience with logo animations
  • Experience with Essential Graphics and MOGRTS
